You’ll play a critical role in transforming our engineering practice from a reactive, delivery-focused mindset to a disciplined, high-performance function that’s scalable, stable, and future-ready. You’ll be responsible for architecture, standards, tooling, hiring, and team development while also contributing production code.

Tech Stack

  • Shopify (Liquid, Shopify CLI, Ruby on Rails, Plus APIs)
  • React + TypeScript (Next.js)
  • Node.js + NestJS
  • Azure / GCP
  • Dynamics 365 (F&O) – desirable for integrations

Job Description

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

Technical Leadership

  • Set and evolve the technical strategy across web, app, and platform integrations
  • Own architecture, frameworks, and tooling decisions for scalable, maintainable systems
  • Define and enforce standards for code quality, documentation, testing, observability, and incident response

Team Leadership:

  • Manage a team of in-house developers, with potential for scaling of team offshore as business needs grow
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Support capability uplift through structured feedback and mentorship

Execution & Delivery:

  • Contribute directly to critical projects in Shopify Plus, React, Node, and React Native environments
  • Develop the engineering roadmap to ensure security and stability across systems is prioritised alongside customer-facing features and internal user requests
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to scope, prioritise, plan, and deliver features in 2-week sprints

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the key engineering voice in cross-functional settings
  • Translate business goals into technical strategy and communicate trade-offs clearly
  • Ensure technical direction remains aligned with the company’s broader FY26 strategic roadmap
     

Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years professional experience in software development
  • Proven leadership of distributed engineering teams
  • Strong experience with headless architecture, scalable solution design
  • Deep expertise in REST APIs, GraphQL, and modern JS/TS ecosystems
  • Strong communication skills; confident working with non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable being hands-on: this role involves direct coding responsibilities
  • Familiarity with Shopify Plus eCommerce platform, Shopify APIs and customisation
  • Understanding of D365 integrations (e.g. via AIS or APIs)
